These diaries were a day by day accout of movements and actions kept by or on behalf on the commanding officer of a Regiments Battalion.Some contain immense detail, whilst other of smaller units are sparse in detail. If a date is known for a casualty,or particular incident, then they show where the battalion was at the time.Officers are often mentioned, either for movements, or as a casualty, but other ranks are not mentioned as a rule, although some diaries record bravery acts of indivuals.£9.00 search fee, copies extra at cost. LONDON GAZETTE ENTRIES.(1st and 2nd WORLD WARS). These are the official notification for awards and honours eg: V.C. D.S.O. M.C. D.C.M. M.M. There are 2 series of papers available.A search will be carried out in both of them,and the 3rd collation and mi-sorts.The first contains soldiers that were regulars, and later discharged for sickness,wounds, or pension. The second series are caller the 'burnt' series. During the bombing of London in the 2nd World War many were damaged or destroyed and have been microfilmed.
